If you’re anything like me, you know that fall is the absolute best. It’s gorgeous with the leaves changing color, it’s just cool enough that we can once again drink hot coffee without the chance of heat stroke and let’s be honest: who doesn’t love sweater weather?

Fall is so beautiful, and it inspires designers near and far all the time. So for those of you looking for inspiration for your own apartments, here are some perfect fall apartment décor items.

1. Candles

Who doesn’t love classic fall scents of pumpkin and apple? While a quick trip to Bath & Body Works or Yankee Candle is sure to fulfill your desire for fall-scented candles (and then some), a visit to your local hobby shop turns these scented sticks of wax into beautiful autumnal decorations.

You can either surround several fall candles with a myriad of fake leaves and pinecones for that perfect table centerpiece, or, if you’re feeling a bit more creative, you can decorate fall themed mason jars as housing for whichever fall candles you love (also giving you plenty of opportunity to mix and match and go through that entire candle collection you’ve been hoarding).

2. Wreaths

Wreaths don’t have to be Christmas related, and fall is filled with such pretty plant life that it’s hard to ignore how beautiful it would look in a wreath.

Of course, I recommend using the artificial version of nature but hey, if you want to construct a wreath that’s going to die next week, it’s all yours.

Anyway, there are many different ways to do this (and many different uses for them).

While the traditional multi-colored leaf wreath looks fantastic, you can also pick out materials that you like in any season (they don’t even need to be fall related) so long as you pick out fall colors, it’ll get that fall look across. Another route to go to get this look across is to use artificial berries or straw and tie together with a fall colored ribbon – it’s festive, it’s beautiful and it’s the perfect decorative piece for your apartment.

Hanging wreaths on doorways is particularly popular during the fall season, but you can also hang wreaths around the apartment for a festive, beautiful look that can pull an entire room together.

3. DIY containers

When you take plain, glass containers and fill them with some of your favorite fall-inspired decorations, you have the perfect décor that you can put anywhere you’re lacking color/decorations in your apartment.

Fill them with acorns, pinecones, leaves, berries etc. for a fancy, very easy to accomplish, look. Plus, you can pick out glass containers of different sizes to fit your needs in specific areas.

For instance, if your bathroom sink is in need of smaller decoration, fill a tall, cylindrical glass container with fall colored potpourri. If your coffee table is lacking a centerpiece, use a large, rounded glass container and fill it with small pumpkin and pear artificial decorations.

4. Don’t forget fabric

Whether you’re looking for a nice rug to put in your living room or just want a small runner to go across your table, fabric is a great way to get that fall look across much more subtly.

Some runners and rugs can be purchased with fall decorations in mind, such as leaf prints or pumpkins, and others can be bought in plain colors that evoke the fall feeling, such as burnt orange and burgundy.

However, don’t forget that you can also make throw rugs to put around your living room, as these make great decorations year-round (and they’re comfortable and warm as the weather starts to get colder).

Tie blankets are the most creative way to do this, using fall colors, patterns or even going straight to the Halloween and Thanksgiving themes. However, you can also purchase already made (boring) blankets in those signature fall browns, reds and oranges.

Fall really is one of the best seasons there is, and it’s pretty much universally loved (unlike summer and winter). So don’t forget that the little things matter, and sometimes just being surrounded by decorations from your favorite season can make you even just a little bit happier.

So head over to the nearest craft store, think creatively, and don’t be afraid to really showcase that love for fall all over your apartment. I’m not judging.
